Are you looking for
great holidays in February? New York is a beautiful state in the northeast
U.S., best known for its imposing skyscrapers, New York City and stunning
Niagara Falls. NYC has the world's tallest tower, the Statue of Liberty and the
most populous island, Manhattan. To the west, Long Island has spectacular
beaches, the Montauk Lighthouse and Fire Island, while to the north lies the
historic city of New York City. To the south lies the quiet fishing village of
East River Village.
When it comes to
holidays in February, every visitor and every year-old veteran of the city will
be in need of a few things. First of all, head to the many festivals that are
celebrated around the city; from parades to musicals and from comedy clubs to
farmer's markets to art fairs. The most famous of these annual events happens
to be the New York Philharmonic, which celebrates its centennial year each year
in March. This colourful event, which boasts of over one hundred musicians
playing traditional concerts, has been called the "orchestra concerto of
America" by some music historians. Every year, concerts are arranged for
local residents as well as visitors from far and wide.
Another must see
festival in February is the Macy's Thanksgiving Day. Filled with booths and
interactive games, Macy's Thanksgiving Day is considered the number one holiday
shopping event of the year. It is also celebrated alongside the traditional
Thanksgiving dinner. Homeowners all over the world celebrate the bank holidays
with great grills out at their homes.
A few months after the
aforementioned February holidays, a more important public holiday will take
place. Known as Washington's birthday, St. Patrick's Day is on the last Friday
of February and officially marks four centuries since the first celebration of
the day. March will mark the bicentennial of the signing of the United States
Constitution, and may be the most important public holidays of the entire year.
The most significant
public holiday of the month of February is the national holiday known as
Washington's Birthday. It is celebrated with much pomp and pageantry by many
residents of the capital city. On this day, a parade through the city
commemorates the hundreds of years that Americans have enjoyed the freedoms
granted by their forefathers. At about half past three o'clock in the
afternoon, a massive firework display known as the Washington National Cherry
Blossom Blast is held beneath the Washington Bridge. To add to the grandeur of
the occasion, a train loaded with fireworks streaks down the Potomac River
towards Washington, where it capped off the spectacular display with a
spectacular crash. For fireworks enthusiasts, a trip to this particular section
of the Potomac is one of their top holiday destination options.
On the other hand,
Mumbai also celebrates some major public holidays in February. Some of the very
popular Indian holidays in February include Ganesh Chaturthi, Navratri,
Dusshera, Diwali and Id-ul-Fitr. All these public holidays are celebrated with
great zeal by Mumbai locals and visitors from all parts of India. In fact,
Mumbai also witness major disruptions and road accidents on these occasions. To
minimize the chances of traffic mishaps on these holidays in February, make
sure you drive on the alternate route on non-possessing roads on the day of the
festivals.
